Our Mission

Our mission is to empower and support young people who are deaf and hard of hearing in Uganda, through vocational training. We aim to create a more inclusive society, breaking down barriers and promoting independence, confidence and active participation. Our core values are inclusivity, compassion and respect.

Our Aims

We are looking to work with individuals who are deaf with four aims. Our ultimate outcome is to see financially independent young people as the products of our organisation.

1.    To advocate for the restoration of hope for the deaf in our society.

2.    To promote awareness of skills from the deaf community to our society with an aim of supporting financial independence.

3.    To equip the deaf community through tailored vocational and entrepreneurial training.

4.    To advocate for the deaf community through campaigns on social media, rallies and marches, fundraising activities all to reduce stigmatisation.

5.    To expand our services to more people who are deaf in rural areas.

6.    To strengthen the uptake of sign language lessons by parents and people close to those in the deaf community.

Vision Statement

Our vision at Siloam:256 is to create a society in Uganda where young people who are deaf and hard of hearing are fully included and have equal opportunities to succeed. We are dedicated to empowering them by equipping them with vocational skills, showcasing their successes, and fostering financial independence and entrepreneurship. We strive to build a community that recognizes and respects their unique abilities, empowering them to reach their full potential and become active contributors to society.
